Bekkah (the wife) and I have been watching our sliding door for the last week to see if the cats have shown up again and they have on a couple of occasions. It took them a while before they came back to visit (probably traumatized) but we have seen the kittens and their mother on a couple of occasions now. It is fun to stand inside or outside and watch them run around and chase leaves and sticks and bugs and each other.
Seeing as how the mother is not a complete goof off we think that we will no longer have to keep one as a pet (both good and bad). We took a long time to decide that night and since we decided yes it is kind of a big let down not to have the kitten. However, it is very fun to watch all of them play with everything.
Bekkah says we have a month to worry about whether or not these kittens are going to be dumped off somewhere or if the mom is actually a good cat. Guess we will wait and see. In the meantime that means packing for the big move back to Columbus.╬

Cat Adventures
Last night Bekkah and I had company over for dinner and at the end of the evening we saw a mother cat and her 4 baby kittens. We all had fun watching them run around and play and watch the mother ignore them the whole time.
Well after a short time our guests left and Bekkah and I continued to watch the kittens. The mother then ran across the street with 3 of her kittens. Bekkah and I saw the fourth one in a drainage pipe and that it had been left behind. We then contemplated getting a new cat or at least rescuing it.
Bekkah and I grabbed some tuna and some milk and tried to coax the cat out of the pipe. Once or twice we got the kitten close but she would move back into the tunnel. We sat out there by the pipe for an hour or so. Toward the end of our time, Bekkah started meowing and suddenly we saw the mother cat back several yards off. Bekkah made a trail from the mother cat to the pipe so that she could find her kitten. We then walked back to our house and Bekkah comforted our cat Charlie and I watched to see if mother found baby. She did and they ran across the street together and all was well.
We were both happy and sad that they were reunited. All is well.╬

Back from Vacation
Bekkah (the wife) and I went on vacation from July 1 until the 11th. It was nice to get out and go places and have a real vacation for the first time during our entire internship.
We drove from Massillon to Columbus at 3:45 AM and took a flight to Philly and got into our hotel at about 9:30 AM. Spent the next couple of days seeing all the historic stuff in Philly. We saw the National Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, Elfreth's Alley, Franklin's house and grave, Independence Hall, Lights of Liberty Show and a whole lot more...
We then rented a car and drove from Philly to D.C. where we picked up Bekkah's parents. We got to see the 4th of July Fireworks in the National Mall which was very cool after the tornado warning had passed. During our time there we saw: Washington Monument, Smithsonians, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Einstein Memorial, WWII, Holocaust, Capitol, Spy Museum, and so much more I can't think right now of them.
We had a great time spending 10 days seeing all the history of the formation of our country. It really made me think about it all and how much it cost to have our country formed. I have a better and deeper appreciation for our country now. It was a very amazing and moving vacation. I highly recommend it if you ever think about going.╬
