Bekkah (the wife) and I went on vacation from July 1 until the 11th. It was nice to get out and go places and have a real vacation for the first time during our entire internship.
We drove from Massillon to Columbus at 3:45 AM and took a flight to Philly and got into our hotel at about 9:30 AM. Spent the next couple of days seeing all the historic stuff in Philly. We saw the National Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, Elfreth's Alley, Franklin's house and grave, Independence Hall, Lights of Liberty Show and a whole lot more...
We then rented a car and drove from Philly to D.C. where we picked up Bekkah's parents. We got to see the 4th of July Fireworks in the National Mall which was very cool after the tornado warning had passed. During our time there we saw: Washington Monument, Smithsonians, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Einstein Memorial, WWII, Holocaust, Capitol, Spy Museum, and so much more I can't think right now of them.
We had a great time spending 10 days seeing all the history of the formation of our country. It really made me think about it all and how much it cost to have our country formed. I have a better and deeper appreciation for our country now. It was a very amazing and moving vacation. I highly recommend it if you ever think about going.╬

I would highly recommend the National Cathedral in DC if you ever get the chance!
ReplyDeleteIf you were at the Lincoln Memorial I would imagine you saw both Korea and Vietnam memorials...
Georgetown is a fun place to go wander around too
glad you had a good time!
We did go see the Cathedral and worshiped there at an Evensong service (not that impressed with the service).
ReplyDeleteYah we saw the Korean and Vietnam memorials. I thought I mentioned Vietnam but I guess not. When we load our pics onto our computer I will post some of them here as "highlights"
